Feedback and Suggestions - Camera Rotation - Forum - Path of Exile (2025)

I'm just new the the beta version, i have been using it for a few days now.
One of the things I noticed is that you don't have rotation function for character views, I personally feel this adds a lot to a game environment giving the player control on what they are viewing and ways to examine a area before tackling it. This is a extremely useful feature all round because it makes the player feel like they are in control of what they are seeing. Also when you first enter the game you want to examine your character and as you progress through the game you want to examine the bosses and npcs alike. The graphics on this game are amazing and it would be good to be able to examine it in more detail.

Many of the models are likely "one sided" so if you for example hacked to turn the camera, you'd see through the parts not intended for view.
The graphics would need a full overhaul for 360 degree coverage.

I'm pretty sure that the game is designed to work in a 360 degree environment but no camera work has been implemented in the game so far.

No it an isometrik perspective.
Just zoom though buildings and you see there is no backside.

There are only 18 people working on it.

I worked on a short PnP project years ago and even designing detailed weapons on milkshape 3d took hours not to mention quality tests if there are reduntant vertices or polygons.

Working on a 720° Enviroment takes far more time and resources if the graphics should be not too old.

If you see how many people are involded in graphics on 720° games you will see a huge difference.

Personally I like the fixed camera rotation because the moment I can rotate the camera I feel constantly compelled to do so for a better view. Differences in view distance between the top and bottom of the screen are the main reason.

Fixed view games always had a very different feel to me since I could completely ignore camera controls to concentrate on the game, and environments in such games can be designed to look their best from the only view the player has. You can also discard any notion of a compass since the player always has a steady sense of direction.

The main idea in having camera rotation is to give the player more control if people like the fixed camera position they wouldn't need to change the camera position but if you didn't like it you would still have the option of being able to rotate the camera position

The GGG team have said for a long time that the camera is going to remain fixed. I understand you would like this to change, but there isn't really any need for it, and it's not going to happen.

Best to accept this and move on.

Slightly off-topic, but I had a dream the other night that all of the ingame menus have LOLcats on the backs of them. I almost rotated the camera just to see.
